Hi Rossi,

I have read and watched the looping section of Tricktionary so many times that I can recite the script word for word. I visualize the movements in my head. Pop, look, throw, pull.

But when I get on the water my brain says no. I think I might just have small balls which is why I can't bring myself to try.

Is there a way of overcoming the fear factor. I am 40 in 18 months time and I have to loop before then, otherwise, I will give all my kit to charity!

Better still, why don't you come over to Southern England and teach me. You can then have a live section on the site showing how you can do it. :)

Any help welcomed.

Thanks

Justin

Hi Justin,

:) - Well just been in Tarifa and met a few people with exactly the same problem...

The forward loop is basically very easy, it doesn't need a lot of technique or good feeling for the equipment,... you just need to be able to jump a little and be aggressive in your movements...
The only thing basically stopping most is their fear.

I will try to set up a Trickademy Loop Event later this year, i think it will definitely help to be with others who are at the same level, with the same problem...

It's about overcoming your fear for one big time. It really helps to think visualize the manoeuvre and all the necessary movements ashore and non planing, to automatize it (muscle memory)...

See the videoclips on the DVD and maybe also see clips of Forwards and Speedloops online... try to imagine how it will feel...

Be sure that YOU CAN DO IT!!! There is no way you can not Forward, if you can plane and control your jumps, almost everybody could loop. Don't always say you can not, you are too scared or too old (heard that too many times already)... Tell yourself you can do it, be confident, think about it, why should you not be able to do it??!!

18 months is plenty of time... for sure you'll do it by then!

Use a helmet if you are more confident with it... Wait for a day where you can use a small sail without being overpowered,.. smaller than 5.0 is perfect... use the smallest board you have. Waves or big chop definitely help - however ramps should not be too big, you don't need to jump super high to do a forward/speedloop. A steep chop of 30 cm that you can hit sailing across the wind is pretty perfect.. if there's small swell/waves, take them when they're still a bit round, so you don't go too high...

Go out with friends - tell them that you will do the forward today and they should cheer you on and watch you, or even better they should also go for it and the last one who tries pays the other(s) a beer or pizza or so...
Some pressure is good!

I'd go behind you and shout, that you should try it all day long, if i'd be there... :)

Definitely post here/let us know, once you tried it!!

good winds!

Thanks for the positive vibes Rossi. I just got to get out there and go for it. My jumps are really controlled and I feel good in the air, so there is no excuse!

I will keep you updated with progress.

We just need some wind, it has been so long since we have had 5.0 weather
